From 29 July to 20 August the eyes of the world will be on South America as 24 teams compete to win the 18th edition of the biggest youth football trophy of them all, the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011.

The cup has been lifted by just eight teams in the competition's history, most recently Ghana, who claimed the prize two years ago in Egypt. This Friday, battle will commence, as sides from six continents begin their campaign to qualify from the group stages and ultimately to run out onto the pitch in Bogota on 20 August to challenge for the title itself.

For the 504 players taking part it is a chance to follow in the footsteps of former Golden Boot winners Diego Maradona, Robert Prosinecki, Seydou Keita, Javier Saviola, Ismail Matar, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Dominic Adiyiah, whose dazzling performances at the premier youth championship laid the foundations for their stellar careers.

Whose stars will shine the brightest this time around, and which side will be crowned the best youth side on the planet? FIFA.com wants to hear from you.

Will it be six-time tournament winners Argentina, whose current crop of stars, Juan Iturbe, Erik Lamela, Facundo Ferreyra and Roberto Pereyra will be looking to emulate past glories?

In the absence of Neymar and Lucas, will Oscar, Philippe Coutinho and Casemiro do enough to win a fifth title for Brazil? Do Portugal and Spain have what it takes to stake a claim and end the South American dominance of the competition? Could a new team add its name to the eight-strong list of former champions?
