FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup record
USA are perennial contenders at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, advancing to at least the quarter-finals on eight occasions and winning the tournament three times (2002, 2008 and 2012). The Stars and Stripes will be looking to progress to the final for the first time since the 2012 edition.

The road to France
USA will perhaps be playing with a chip on their shoulders at France 2018 after they were denied a fifth successive continental title by regional rivals Mexico at the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship. Mexico defeated USA on penalties in the final of the tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.

The coach
The experienced Czech-born Jitka Klimkova took charge of USA's U-20 women's national team in April 2017. In her role as U-20 women's national team coach Klimkova also oversees the U-18 and U-19 sides.
