Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen, Celtic striker Chris Killen and former Fulham midfielder Simon Elliott were all confirmed in New Zealand's soccer team for next month's Beijing Men's Olympics tournament on Thursday.

The trio were named as the three over-age players allowed for the U-23 tournament, which runs from 6 to 23 August in China.

Nelsen has not played for the All Whites since 2004 due to a nagging hamstring injury and club commitments.

The Blackburn captain, Killen, Elliott, Steven Old, Jeremy Brockie and Daniel Ellensohn have all played for the All Whites, while goalkeeper Jacob Spoonley has been in the senior squad but has not won a cap, New Zealand Soccer said.

New Zealand have been drawn in the same group as hosts China, Brazil and Belgium.
