42 days to go: Ballack leads by example

(FIFA.com)

Michael Ballack scored 42 goals in a long career for Germany and four of them came at their home FIFA Confederations Cup in 2005, including an extra-time winner against Mexico in the match for third place.

Germany are yet to lift the Confederations Cup trophy, but many fans of *Die Mannschaft *have fond memories of the tournament in 2005, when the hosts unveiled their new-look side to the world, paving the way for the success that would follow.

The leader of that side was Michael Ballack, who had recently replaced Oliver Kahn as captain. He remains Germany's top Confederations Cup scorer. Will any of Joachim Low’s side beat Ballack’s record in Russia?
