Prior to the Preliminary Draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ on Saturday 30 July 2011, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter attended a charity beach soccer match between Brazil and Japan.

Jointly organized by Sony and Save the Children, the match was held on the famous Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro. Proceeds from the event will go to assist the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit eastern Japan in March.

Five Japanese children from the area most affected by the catastrophe, along with 140 young people from deprived areas in Rio also attended the match. These very special guests looked on in delight as some of the great names in football, including Zico, Cafu and Ronaldo performed on the Copacabana sand.

"I am very pleased the Japanese team are here today. Let us hope this marvellous initiative helps accelerate the reconstruction efforts in Japan," said President Blatter.
