The world’s 20 best EA SPORTS FIFA 14 players have arrived in Rio de Janeiro for the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final. Despite having traveled from all corners of the world, there were no signs of jet lag as the players stepped out of their hotel and soaked in the electric atmosphere of a city caught in the full grip of FIFA World Cup fever.
The streets of Rio rippled with activity as fans made their way to the beach to watch the final Round of 16 matches. The Grand Finalists joined the sea of blue and white Argentina jerseys flowing towards the Copacabana, one of the iconic fan fest locations for Brazil 2014. As if digging their feet into the sands of the Copacabana weren’t a highlight enough, the Grand Finalists were given the chance to step on the main stage at the Fan Fest while FIWC hosts Andre Buffo and Kay Murray introduced the world’s best 20 virtual footballers to thousands of fans.
Brazilian champion Rafael Fortes shared a few words from the stage with his home crowd. “I feel very proud to get to represent my country at the FIFA Interactive World Cup,” Rafael told the audience. “I hope to play well and make Brazil proud.”
After an afternoon of dramatic FIFA World Cup games, the attention turned to the virtual arena for the FIWC 2014 Grand Final Tournament Draw at the Pescana hotel. With the sun setting over the ocean and the air thick with the smell of barbecue, Draw hosts Kay Murray and Dwight Yorke were joined by special guest and 1994 FIFA World Cup winner Dunga to conduct the official draw for the Group Stage. "The top players are here i'm sure they are excited to start and get the job done," Dwight said. The 4 groups consist of five players each, which the top two in each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
